Sounds like you're not controlling the friction zone of the clutch properly. Try riding with the clutch released less than 50% and the bike shouldn't take off on you.

But most beginners won't be wringing it to 17K. And even if you do wring it out WOT, the power comes on very slowly and gradually so it IS a great beginner bike. It will take you a while to get to that 120mph so you won't be caught sleeping.

you can't exactly compare the cbr250r, they don't even make them anymore, and i wouldn't exactly call it a starter bike, going 0-60 in about 5 seconds and topping out at 120ish and 17500rpm

I don't know were your getting your info from but your way off.The top speed for a modified 08 250r is 111.30421 mph on a 1 mile track.Stock clocking it with a GPS was 96.5since speed odometers can be off by as much as 10%.My speed test was done with me weighing in at 153 pounds (including full race gear) with 1 gallon of gas on a 1 mile straight run.
