Our born selves is all you could ever compare. To state one has control over the parents, friends, schools, teachers when young even when you are old(from prebuilt emotions, kneejerk likes dislikes, opinions). You yourself and the conditioning you under stake are two completely different things. To state you have had the control over the butterfly effect of events your life is ludacris. Just like you have no control over how another reacts to your reaction. "The Illusion of control". Fight it.
