very interesting story, but i do have to say if you were a tru skeptic you would eventually drive your self to solipsim which isnt necessarly bad, just keep questioning every thing

I love this story, its very different than others I have heard. I am going to poke through your other vids, but I admit I would love to hear about your thoughts on politics, I was Muslim and under considerable influence of the predjudices against Jews and in peticular Isrealies. For me as an individual, believing that to be wrong and having left that group think situation, I am trying to balance my thoughts on the issue.

Well, I'm an Atheist but I was raised Catholic, and I still celebrate Christmas (The only thing about Christianity I actually like) and to me, Xmas is mostly about family. Also, like most Christians, I blaspheme every time something really bad happens, Or just use swear words, and I still say "blessyou" when someone sneezes. But it's just a habbit thing.

People wouldn't like any of my sandwiches if I lived in Israel. Nearly all of my sandwiches have meat and cheese together, unfortunately. :-P

David Cross mentioned how he didn't want to be Jewish, and asked his rabbi how he could stop being Jewish, to which the rabbi responded with a question about whether his mother's vagina was Jewish.

Oh, hey, I just had a ham and cheese sandwich, which means I broke two kosher laws at once!

In the secular battle for the land, is the justification given as simply the Jewish ancient historical presence in the region? I'm sorry but I know very little of your country's history other than what is in the news modernly and what little is spoken about it historically in terms of religion.

Actually, I see what you're saying, BUT -- Judaism was one of the first religion that throughout history had skeptics and non-believers. If you read the bible, history and the other historical and holy jewish scriptures, you will see that the jews themselves were a skeptical nation. Many of the religious customs are skeptical (to a degree, of crouse, but still). So it's not surprising that the argument of 'religion vs people' is existent within it..

I agree it's really is wrong to entreat a deity when it comes war. Yes, after 9-11 we wanted to see someone get blown to hell. That's not turning the other cheek, let's call it what it is, vengeance. Although it's a more justified vengeance than other types, it's still about being human, has nothing to do with religion, God or spirituality. ;)

Divine retribution is silly but I'm trying to guess where they're coming from. Yes, USA is pretty religious, it was founded on religious freedom (not freedom from). Atheists are as welcome under the constitution as Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and Jews, etc. Free will tells me that God or any gods wouldn't want to be a country's governor so it is indeed scary when someone declares war in a god's name. We abide by moral laws but we're left to govern ourselves with (hopefully) good conscience. |
