well, life WAS much simpler... you didn't have to think about Atomic weapons, Terrorist didn't blow our cities up, There was no one that talked about pollution - CO2 Global warming--Etc.. smoking was "healthy" :P You gave a Fu** if China had a dictator... You didn't hear about hunger in Africa... And on and on...
