Yeah i know what you mean i got a eight track recorder also...i think it works alright..i thought it depended on what i was using for my recordings... i thought a recorder would be better then protools but i think it depends more on the mic... cus my mic seems to be the reason on why my recorder is better then software

Hey, FreeSTyleBattleZ. Thanks for your interest in my situation. Yeah, a freind got me into Logic 8. It's been pretty much the same situation as with Pro-Tools....very complicated and full of bugs and relentless error messages. I can only record a few tracks before I get all kinds of glitches in timing and various unexplained error messages. So I went and bought an 8-track stand alone hard disc recorder. Its simple and does what its supposed to do, which isn't much but its better than nothing!

Well your comment was posted awhile back...but i was just wondering if you think hardware would be something better then a software like protools?..did you find a good way or you still looking?

You are taking a course on Pro-Tools? Well congratulations! But you see, I'm unable to attend any expensive classes to learn how to use it. I'm busy WORKING FOR A LIVING! But I'm glad you took the time to let me know how easy it is for your advanced mind to learn Pro tools. I'm just a feeble minded simpleton that lacks your high powered intellect. So I can't relate to your massive IQ or your deep pockets. But good luck with all that. And thanks for talking down to me. Peace.. Genius.

are you serious? I'm midway through my first course in pro tools and it is by far the simplest and most powerful sound processing software i have ever encountered. Pro tools can not be simpler. It is true that is does tend to crash sometimes but those are on the crappy macs back at uni. I assure you, protools is easy as hell and so incredibly powerful.

Thank you for that response mrtunes. I'm sorry for ranting the way I did. Nothing good comes from negative comments, does it? I just wanted to express what I felt as a newcomer to computers. I'm not getting any younger and everything just seems over my head. All I seem to do with my computer is watch Youtube and play Itunes! And I bought it soley to make music. Thanks for the tip. I'll look into the programs you mentioned. And thanks for the encouragement. Peace.

pro tools is great for engineering live musicians and film sound design(hence the letterman endorsement). if you're talking about doing a lot of sequencing though i'd recommend you check out a program like cubase. and maybe try something even simpler like garageband or sequel. but whatever you do, don't give up!

So do I have to become a damn computer nerd just to be able to make a simple SONG! I've been slowly killing myself with Pro-tools for about a year now. Everything I do on it is pure torture. Half the time I shut down the computer and think of giving up on music altogether. IT SUCKS! I made more music on my old 4 track tape machine. At least it worked as advertised. The problem with technology today is that it is geared for techies. Music equipment used to be for MUSICIANS! Recording is now hell!

Yeh but if they had gone for 32bit float as in Adobe Audition they would have about 1500dB dynamic range rather than the poo 300dB of 48bit integer as in PT.
