The Vivace device for harvesting vibrational energy from vortices in the ocean and other waters is intriguing, but premature. The notion one could harvest 0.1% of the ocean's energy seems wildly exaggerated - even 0.0001% would be an extraordinary achievement. Even so, the concept as an addition to other alternative energy options for replacing fossil fuels is welcome and deserves further development for assessment of efficiency and scalability.

A revolutionary new device can now harness the energy from most of the slow-moving rivers and ocean currents around the globeIf we harness this way only 0.1 % of the energy of the ocean we can support the energy needs of 15 billion peopleCheap to produce 25% less than wind energy and 80% less than solarThis system conceived by scientists at the University of Michigan is called Vivace, or "vortex-induced vibrations for aquatic clean energy". A prototype is deploy in the Detroit River

the *general* sea level is the highest its ever been. it's not the warmest its ever been, but the ice caps are always melting anyway because they are temporary.btw, how can you say we cant prove that yet say we can prove other things? past ice level is far easier to measure that past temperature

Hi AngryAussie (opps, I mean nancidrew4, er, i mean, valcat9, um no, i mean belmont162, no wait, i mean edeagleman, er um...)Hi AngryAussie,Why look at you! Look how many comments you covered up today! And you did it all by yourself! Wow, look how smart you are! You made soooo many YouTube accounts all on your own! You must be so smart to be able to do this sort of thing. Why, I've been underestimating you all along. I just thought you were a pathetic, lonely, loser.

Throughout the 4.5 billion years of Earth history, temperatures have often fluctuated, typically accompanied by massive species extinctions, and triggered by natural forces - orbital, tectonic, solar, volcanic - none operating today at significant levels. In contrast, human anthropogenic CO2 emissions can be calculated to produce >90% of the substantial warming of the past century. For a recent reference, Google "Lean Rind 2008", and for general concepts, the wikipedia "Global Warming" article.

???? lol we haven't had real data on this since satellites went into orbit - so there is no way to make a claim like this - but we know this is false in other ways likearcheology has shown that the oceans were higher during the greeks, so we assume it was much warmer thenand we know the planet was much colder during the mini ice age of the 1600s and 1700s so its logical that the ice caps were much bigger thennothing is obvious or so many wouldnt be debating this

At the peak of the last glaciation, about 20 000 years ago, approximately 97% of Canada was covered by ice (up to two kilometers (one mile) thick). It ended about 10 000 years ago. Science literature universally recognizes that this was not cause by a dramatic anthropogenic warming.

the polar ice caps havn't not been melting at any point in the last 28 THOUSAND YEARS!!!its all obviously because of our carbon emissions |
