So here's how I deep Clean my brushes. Different people have different ways of washing and preferences. It's all good, as long as you wash the brushes at least once a week. I briefly covered this in my Brush Cleaning video, demonstrating the quick-clean method using Brush Cleanser. Now here's the full demo on how I deep clean! EnJoy!

I'm glad that you did this viedo because at the MAC counter no one actually tells you that you will need to actually wet your MAC brushes to clean them. I was only using the MAC brush cleanser and I ended up with a nasty eye infection and my eye doctor ended up telling me about using the baby shampoo to actually clean them once a week. If you only use brush cleanser, you can look in the middle of your brushes and see lots of makeup caked up in there that the brush cleanser did not remove.

Koren, my dog got my kabuki brush (tear, tear!) He didn't do much damage, except some of the bristles are cut (bitten) in half-ish, and some of the bristles are falling out. I'm afraid to pull out the loose bristles because i'm afraid they will all start falling out... what should I do to clean it without pulling all the bristles out? Please and thank you!!

hmmm not sure what that dark spots would be - never seen anything like that in my mac brushes. If you have tried washing it off and still would not come off, maybe take it to MAC and they can look at it closely.

are you talking about sponge applicators -- yeah, I refrain from using those. You get bacteria buildup easy on them, and they fall apart when you try to wash them. Try to use an eyeshadow brush instead.

yes, it twists the bristles and causes breakage. so sweeping back and forth is best for the bristles.

spray a couple spritz whenever you feel you need to sanitize and condition the brushes.

use a brush cleanser for daily quick cleaning. Then do a deep washing once a week using warm water shampoo method.
