Both Janis and the band were at their finest in this performance - incredible. They were the perfect band to back her.

The tone of their guitars brings me to tears. Some of the live recordings. God, that is music.

Janis is one of the most brilliant and soulful performers ever to take to the stage. Good lord, how can we even compare her to anyone? She is the best.

Absolutely right. Janis' singing "I Need a Man to Love" here is breathtakingly phenomenal. Janis and Big Brother were "right" together. Wish she would have stayed with them. Peace.

You are so right. That one was my favorite of all. Much appreciated. Peace.

Also the book "Sweet Scars of Paradise" by Alice Echols which puts Janis in a very interesting historical/pioneer context
