"Can survive" yes. "Coexist peacefully with non-white American's" no.

But the song is about celebrating a certain way of life. I don't see that he is necessarily saying that other ways of life aren't valid, but he is proud and happy with his. I live in a very large city now, but I know that because of how I was raised, there is almost nothing better for me to relax than to throw a bunch of stuff into a backpack and disappear into the woods for about a week. Most traditional forms of country emphasize the independence factor more than the dislike of the city.

I get that. I get the whole, "Urbanites think people in the country are stupid, so lets show them that we know how to do lots of stuff they don't." I get it. However, the sentiment often gets exaggerated to the point where people say that living in the country is the ONLY way to live and people who don't are stupid. In essence, you become what you hated in the first place.I grew up in the country, and guess what? I moved to the city. I like both places for different reasons. Let it go.

You're talking about neurotic suburbanites and you're from England? For reals homie? Rednecks don't represent you dude. Quit trying to appeal to Americans for legitimization of your shitty situation, you lymie freak. Its pathetic.

And even moderates too. But this song is about people like me who were raised knowing how to get by and be independent from external help. To this day, drop me into the woods with a Bowie knife and a warm jacket, I could live for months. I know the woods, the plants, the animals, and how to survive.I don't recall this being a very political song, and I know the lyrics by heart. The most "political" it gets is talking about his friend from NY who got killed in the concrete jungle. *Shrug*

seems like you're the one who won't accept rednecks... i'd rather rednecks represented me over neurotic discriminating little suburbanites like you. then again, i'm british. wish i had a second amendment!

I hate when people repeat the exact lines out of a song that is playing. You aren't adding anything to the table, we all heard it, we're listening to the song right now. If you have nothing of substance to add then shut the hell up.

There are liberals who live in the country too, jackass. I'm tired of you ignorant rednecks claiming the country and the working class. You are not the representative of me. America is about diversity. Urban and Rural. Black, White, Latino, Asian, Arab, Indian, and everybody else. If you can't accept that then you aren't a real American.
