As You might have seen, Reg Varney died yesterday - he was 92. Still, at least he'll be remembered, thanks to on the Buses.

PC is a load of bollocks. This series / films / are / is / were / The salt of the Earth and made the population laugh their heads off! It WAS what Britain was all about! We live in a peculiar age now............

Shame about Bob Grant & Michael Robbins. I bumped into Robbins back in April 1986. It appeared that he was living like a tramp. He looked terrible.

The film versions which we all base our preconceptions about this series are rather more vulgar than the series, got 2 on DVD and they are still very funny, so I agree with you, FUCK the PC brigade, whats not to laugh at seeing poor old Stan trying to get hie end away and failing miserably every time...

Blakey wins! The actor who plays Blakey, Stephen Lewis, was only in his late thirties, early forties, when he did these shows. Reg Varney, who played Stan Butler, was twenty years older than him, and, as both are still alive, obviously still is. On The Buses has to be the most underrated Brit sitcom. Victim of the PC nazis. Fuck 'em, it makes ME laugh. |
