This video is dedicated to the poetess RedAquarius whose poems like "Sweet Tea in the Bone Garden" inspire me to work on my poetry.Shooting StarsSirius, the Dog Star (Canis Majoris)Silver mirror ensnaredTumbled towards the horizonWhere tropic sea meets crimson sky.Ship's engine beats In time with my heart.Elnarth, beautiful Arabic name (Taurus)Westward azimuth, hard to findScintillating glimmerHidden by sunset's fading glory.Ship's bows cleave the tropic seaLeaving a blue phosphorescent wake.Arcturus, the bear guard (Boots)Rising in the northeast Sextant drops the stars reflectionWhilst the stopwatch catches this moment in eternity.Ship's way gives cooling breezeAn antidote to daylong tropic heat.Chartroom lit by orange glowReflected by varnished teak andBrass chronometers Soft red glow of gyrocompass.Ships coffee black and bitterWarm and comforting.Navigation tables, haversines and cosinesReveal the elegant mathematics of curvesThree position lines intersectTheir perfect cross, the ship's position ... In a perfect universe.

Really cool. I liked the eloquence and the beauty of the words. They took me all the way to the ocean, but truth be told I do live close to it (the Aegean).

Oh thank you so much Stefani, I'm so glad you noticed the two lines between each stanza. This year I'm trying to experiment as much as possible with my structures and subjects.I've started to learn some of the theory of poetry; iambic, trochaic, spondaic, pyrrhic and to learn that verse has feet consisting of stressed and unstressed syllables. I wish I'd never asked!Take care.Love Peter

I'd never seen an actual sextant before, but I remember making rudimentary ones from notecards and ... I think it was paper clips in Junior high school science class.

Refreshing images! I also enjoyed how you went from completely natural images to those natural images being interpreted in the context of sailing a ship, to the completely human set of images and feelings related to being on a ship. A very neat concept and I enjoyed it.
