No, the ipod doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, you are just very nitpicky about really stupid shit. Wes Anderson is FAR from selling out and the fact you would even say that makes me beleive you are not a true Wes Anderson fan. I don't remember any scenes with the Ipod brand name in them. Also, you can't just invent a music-playing device on the spot. You would need an mp3 player or an ipod. Gotta choose one! ALso, the ipod added to the eccentricity of the character.

The song played in the last scene (when they board the train and toss their luggage) is "Powerman" by The Kinks.The song played during the credits is "Les Champs Elysees" by Joe Dassin.

Some people can´t just apreciate the subtlety of some comedies/dramas and they respond with fear and anger it looks like... *excuse my poor spelling!
