chances are, your octave vent on the neck is opening when it isn't supposed to, I would try playing the G with and without the octave key pressed if the key moved up, the spring is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Heres a tip, Did anyone know that the felt lining in your case has mites in it that will eat away at your instrument? It should be replaced every so often

Take it to reputable repair shop and have them evaluate it.

keep the rubber bands in a plastic bag. especially if your flute or clarinet is nickel plated.

If you leave a rubber band on a silver or silverplated flute it will eat through the metal!!!!!!!BAD IDEA I work as a Pro Woodwind Technician....

its possible that there is a leak above, start high and work lower, from what you described it may be a leak at the neck. just a possibility

i have a problem with my saxophone..every time i play a low G it always goes an octave higher with out me pressing the octave key. its not my mouth nor my reed that's causing it to do that. any ideas on what the problem might be? and how i could fix it on my own without taking it to the repair shop?it would really be a big help. thank you. =]
