I also do not care for the music because it does not help me to appreciate the film better. That is true for 99% of silent film scores, which generally annoy me. I was born in 1963, and I like original music whenever possible; especially once Talkies came out, and music was in sequence with events. Remakes often pale - that's common knowledge. But if it brings this to a new audience, why not? We have both options.
