I once read that the sound of the bagpipes coming scared the shit out of the Enemy and referred to them as " Devils in skirts " . I absolutely love the sounds of the Pipes and Drums , sounds Amazing and even as an Englander , i could sit and listen to Scotland the Brave over and over .

They didn't get the accolade "The ladies from Hell" for nothing. I once heard that the Bagpipes are actually designated as an Instrument of War due to fearless nature of the soldiers who's battalions used them. I think that says it all don't you?

hi falcon thank you for the info ken (or known to family as george ) (no idea why ) he was in 1st Battalion Highland Light Infantry. i have found on Wikipedia that they were amalgamated with the Royal Scots Fusiliers in 1959 to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers this has started somthing for me now. his father served and i found a connection with the innes clan |
