@sbinsdca True that! Gold is much better, True is not bad though, the song is made as a pay tribute to Marvin Gaye.

@Furagata Comment follows previous: the youth of the 80's cared about what was happening around us. And music reflected this sentiment -- look at the videos' messages, the lyrics of the songs, etc. It was not all fluff. And the musicians cared as well, if not, Live Aid would not have happened. And it was an iconic event which has never been repeated. The present decade stands for nothing and its youth (save for a few), seem to care about nothing much but getting the latest gizmo. SAD!

@Furagata Sure there were problems in the 80's. That is very true. The world was far from a Panacea; but at least the music reflected the good, the bad and the ugly in ways that made us laugh, think, reflect and cry in order to understand the world we lived in. In other words, the youth of the 80's did not live in limbo or unaware of what was going on and the music in all its genres is what kept us going and unified us as part of the human race. -- additional comment follows

@80srule4ever No, I wasn't alive then. However, from what I've learnt, a complete failure of the economic system in Britain, strikes and bombings aren't a good time to live in. In fact, it sounds pretty much like now, and now isn't a good time to live in, so back then must have been as bad or even worse. Along with that, there was the events of Tienanmen Square, The Challenger crash, St Helen's errupting (Though I'll admit, that could have been worse), the israel-Iraq conflict, and so on
