This is soooooooooooooo goooooooooood!!!!!! What happened to Carter Jefferson? He is superb! I love Woody's style of playing, even more than Freddie Hubbard's in an unexplainable way. I love Freddy too. But he can be out there on the edge sometimes. Thank you for posting this. I remember seeing Woody on TV in the early 70's. It must have been on PBS. I never forgot it. I was an aspiring high school jazz trumet player at the time. Is there a live performance of "The Moontrane" out there?

I had the great pleasure of serving in the 15th Army Band in Sav. Ga. 1966-69. Carter was Someone You always wanted to be with, a gentle soul and a Huge Heart. I tryed for year's to locate Carter and only a year ago do I find His Fate. I am so happy to find these video's They do bring back great Memory's of a Great Guy. Any Thing You can tell me about catre or His family I would appreciate it very Much. Rocco

If you want to be proud of this "African-American" artistic achievement on those grounds, go ahead. In my book, Woody's playing was an incredible HUMAN achievement. It serves as an emotional, intellectual, and spiritual inspiration to anyone who gives it the attention it deserves. |
