Bob always had a great sense of drama. I have to admire he sabotaged the point of his own song in order to draw everyone's attention to the point of the event. He was never a wonderful singer, but then neither is Bono. And I think Geldof and the Rats were the better band; he was, when he was on form, a brilliant songwriter. Along with Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher, the Rats were the only Irish band that I never felt embarrassed about. I remember watching Live Aid. What a day.
