Admittedly, I'd prefer the squid ending. I loved the ending of the graphic novel, and would love to see that big, bad ass alien on the big screen. But a lot of branching plot threads in the book dealt with the foreshadowing of the squid, which, in the movie, if they want time for all the character exploration and shit, it seems like it needed to be trimmed to fit in a two and a half hour movie. And the ultimate result of the new ending remains the same from what I've heard.

You know... I'm having trouble understanding this rabid protest of the movie. It's not like when the movie comes out that book is going to disappear. It'll always be there for us all to enjoy. But yes, I'm excited about the film. It looks pretty cool to me, and almost spot-on with the comic from a visual standpoint. And the squid ending was never in any of the scripts. Nor David Hayter's, which Moore himself said was "as close as [he] could see anyone getting".

When did he say he changed the ending?

I am so sick and tired of hearing people complain about how bad they think Zack Snyder is doing. People complain about the sense of realism the artistic style of the movie. What exactly about it looks horrible. I know they changed the ending, thats no to say that it will suck though. If you remember, the original script by David Hayter wasn't even't set in the time frame that the book was. Zack didn't like that, and so the script was rewritten. What wrond with you damn people!!!!!

FUCK Zack Snyder. You can't change the ending of a comic made over 21 years ago.

Agreed. His aesthetic sensibilities are interesting, and perhaps even well suited for the material. I just don't trust his ability to get great performances out of his actors, or his grasp of tone, or his understanding of pacing etc. But if he just reamins slavishly true to the source, then these things might work themselves out. We'll see.

The end is Nigh, but nothing ever ends...What is life? Why are we here? I believe that there is a greater power. There must be. It's a matter of faith. Respond. I want to hear other opinions and why. If you don't know explain what you are planning to do in the future. If you have something to say regarding this comment put a *** in front of your messageThanksRorschach

I disagree in terms of realism. Is it realistic? Yes but that's really missing the point. People forget that art really has no place conceding to logic or thought, its completely emotion and we get WAY too caught up in the that these days. I think this movie is trying to be TOO realistic in fact. Part of the joy of the deconstruction of Watchmen was watching classic archetypes being broken down.

Its funny u mention dark knight. Because Watchmen is grounded in realism so it should look even more real that dark knight with the exception of Dr manhattan. Watchmen looks like X-men 4. IT absolutley ridiculous. |
