With soft woods, if you sand with a 120 grit and as high as 180 on the end grain before you stain you will get a nice even colour.Rosewood might be worth of a conditioner and cherry as they teand to not take stain even no matter what you do.

Any wood. Always test the effect on a scrap piece of the wood. Do the test just as I did in the video so you see the with and without effect.

When wiping the stain, you bet the towel or rag has chemicals on it!

When you wipe them off, does the towel have any chemical on it or you just use a plain towel. |
