love the sound of music - seen it 35 times. brought it back in singapore in 1976 and the re-runs ran for more than a month to full house till has to stop to air the new shows. :D julie is very talented. i visited salzburg eventually. i guess many people did that. :Dat the same time, mary poppins and my fair lady were shown. :)

no the reason was that she had the surgery and there was damage to her vocal cords because the surgery to correct the damage carries the risk of the vocal cords not working properly.

Of course. I was not aware of that, all I know is what is the cause of why she can no longer sing.

Oh, and btw, can I infer from that that she never had training? Or maybe that she ignored any training she had?

That's so tragic.

no it wasnt Julie. She was never in the film. It was Sally Ann Howes in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Probably it was mistaken cos Sally is also an english woman and she talks a bit like Julie in the film.

wasn't julie andrews on "chika-chika bang-bang" the car movie
Alzarian (December 31, 1969 at 6:59 pm)
No, it's to do with the way she sang back then. She didn't support her voice with her diaphragm and as a result nodules formed on her voicebox. The nodules were surgically removed but as a result she can no longer sing.
