Everytime they declare war on drugs, drugs win! Hell we can't even keep drugs out of prison which are under lock and key night and day.

Do you know what happen to the Mob when the licour prohibition was lifted? Maybe that could work as model for what would happen to the cartels... maybe not...im not sure either way

It's NORML. I'm not even a pothead and I know that. :PAnd yeah, pot should be legal. Alcohol and tobacco are legal and they're not signifigantly more harmful. They're also addictive and pot isn't. Also, it's a major source of income for gangs (here in Canada anyway) and could be taxed for a lot of money.

3600 sec in an hour24 hours a day365 days a year3600*24*365=31536000 secs in a yearDivide by 37 to find out how many in total are jailed in a year.852324.3 peopleAssuming all are jailed for one year (which they're not), it'll result in approximately 23 billion dollars. However, that's quite a lot too much, because those who're jailed on marijuana related charges are not jailed for that amount on average, I reckon, but I suppose it'll give you a bit of an idea.

i don't smoke weed, but in a country where liquor and cigarettes are legal and contribute in the death of alot more people than marijuana ever has. I think it should be legal. not to mention that some of the FDA approved prescription medications do more harm then marijuana could ever do.

Idk, I think the legalization of all drugs would lead to less violence in the industry. But those cartels and guerrillas would still own the land that produces the best product. They'd probably just stop supplying their current clients, and start supplying whatever legitimate corporations or companies that developed.

I saw a documentary, over the course of a year, it costs us atleast 27,000 dollars to keep just one person convicted of a marijuana related crime in prison. And someone is arrested for a marijuana related charge every 37 seconds in our country. So I'm not gonna do the math either, but you're right, it would save us hundreds of millions if not billions every year in taxes to just legalize and regulate it. |
