yeah you're right. technicality doesn't have much at all to do with creativity. You can play an instrument poorly, but the song can still be amazing. It takes a strong streak of creativity, but it can be done. Listen to Deep Water by Portishead. It's a totally different style of music, but to me, that song is haunting and beautiful, and it speaks volumes about the psychology behind the mood of the song, and it's only done with a tacky ukelele and a barbershop quartet.
