Actually his grandmother was afraid of black men- he said so in the speech he made in response to Rev. Wright's comments.And BrulesRules001 does have a point, sadly. There will be racism embedded in everything this country does for a long time, no matter how far this election may have advanced us in racial relations. We were built on racism and it won't change overnight.

That makes absolutely no sense. How would white racism make black racism impossible? There is still racism on both sides of the table- for example, the media portrayal of Obama as black and the public's reaction to this portrayal.

BrulesRules001-Last time I checked, Obama is only half-black and was raised by his white grandparents. I'm pretty sure his mother wasn't racist against his father and I'm pretty sure his grandparents weren't racist against him. By saying that "whites will never give up racism", you're way over-generalizing. Stereotyping all white people as being rednecks and members of the KKK is no better than stereotyping all black people as being gang-members.
